Today we’d like to introduce you to Tarrah Butorovich Plascencia.
Hi Tarrah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a wife, mom of two, and advocate for our senior community. Like for many of us 2020 was a hard year and I had come to a point in my life where I was willing to get out of my comfort zone and be of service. I had just lost my father to diabetes complications and I was ready to surrender. At this time me and two of my friends had started a quarantine book club and the first book we read together was “Wild Goose Chase” by Mark Batterson. The book perfectly aligned with my current journey in life and had a lasting impact. As Mark Batterson States, ” We need to quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death”.
Opening The Wild Goose Vintage & Thrift Store was me getting out of my comfort zone. One evening I attended a family yoga and I saw an empty building next door with so much character and I was inspired. I wanted to create a space where the community felt welcomed and where you could shop thrifty, sustainable and support our local seniors. For me, seniors have always had a special place in my heart. In 2014 I graduated from MSMU with a degree in Gerontology. After Caring for my father and seeing firsthand the importance of socialization, education and the lack of resources, I knew something had to be done.
It’s been an amazing journey opening The Wild Goose Vintage & Thrift Store. The love and support from our community has been astonishing.
